southern part, Concelho Vila do Porto

The beginning of this tour is in the center of Vila do Porto, right at the taxi station and the municipal administration which is installed in a formar Franciscan convent. The way is leading on a parallel street downtown down to the creek Ribeira de São Francisco up to Marvão/Calhau da Roupa where you can enjoy a great roundview across to the town and the marina from Vila do Porto. On a field road you cross the plateau and in the bend where a old stonemade building is standing you cross the fields of Poejo. After cossing a few stone walls there is leading a trail down to the calc oven and the limestone cave. According to your interest you might go back up to the wind turbines and Pico Facho or go further on the trail towards Prainha. Depending on your decision more or less soon there leads a steep trail down to the beautiful Prainha. Here you can find punice stones and different fossils. A small beautiful sand beach with clear water compensates for the exertions. Optional you might continue your hike to Praia Formosa or to Almagreira. This hike can be done on various ways, depending on your needs.
